Israel and Egypt Close Up

GETTING READY TO LEAVE (JUNE 5-8)

The preparation is almost over, the travelers have their tickets, and last minute questions are being answered. Thoughts of what will not get through customs are lifted up like..."Do I have the right converter?" "Will they really take away my 'gel inserts'?" Bags have been measured and the "seasoned travelers" assist the "newbies" by giving good advice. This is a big group (more than 60 members) but in numbers there can be strength, so we expect to be a solid group.
The tickets arrived on Monday morning (June 2) on our doorsteps, in time to relay information to families and friends. Angie Kelley continued to pass on information from Laurie and Gary. The EO team sent letters to assure us they "have our backs" if there are any problems or questions. Now it is time to finalize our transportation to the airport and pack those bags. (62" max overall and less than 44 pounds in weight). The excitement builds and there is still time to check out more info about where we are going, what the hotels are, and the land is like and who we might see or meet there. The Middle east has a lengthy history, and is filled with millenia of cultures and peoples, while awaiting our visit during which time we should increase our knowledege of what is, what has been, and what it will be all about. So, "BonVoyage" and see you next time from Tiberias , Israel, on the Sea of Galilee. Although Tiberias has been the center of Jewish culture for thousands of years, it has seen conquests by Saladin, the Crusaders and more recently battles and murders by the militant factions. See you soon.
