That caught your eye I am sure. "Whale Watch Tickets".?? Yes there are whales in this part pf Canada. The St Lawrence River which flows all along the coast here in Quebec up to the Gaspe Peninsua next to us, has whale that come in to the Gulf to feed in the summer. There are13 species of whales that come in these waters. One way of seeing some of them is to use the "Navigator's Route along the seashore from south of Riviere du loup north to La Bic and beyond. The old seacoast towns will send you back100+ years or more to the days of sailing and fishing from these towns. The basque have a history of this area as well.
We did get tickets to see the whales for a ship ride on Friday.

Thee are the 13 species that have been seen on the Gulf. How many will we see? |
Stopping at the Visitors Center where a wonderful young lady answered every question we had and when we indicated we liked to follow the birds, she pulled out more areas to visit than we had already prepared. We went out of the Visitor's Center with what we needed for the stay here.
Tickets for the whale viewing can be obtained on line, but as we drove to the port and the docks of the ferries for a "look see" we also bought our tickets for the ride. A few photos of the activities there and we were off again for some grocery shopping at a large "IGA" store. Ruth liked that better than the "C" Superstore which was not offering many of the products that she was used to.

A stop at the A and W for a root beer float and we were back home at the trailer.
It was quiet afternoon, with budget balancing, writing letters, finding contacts on the groad ahead, and scoping out a few places to visit.
The day was breezy and warm in the sun, until it disappeared about 3:30in the afternoon. We are scheduled to get some rain tonight and be a better day tomorrw weather wise.

What does the sign say.? |
We did no deliberate birding today and the SONG SPARROWS, RAVENS, CROWS and RING BILLED GULLS were about the sum of what we saw today. Some days are like that.
See you tomorrow when we should explore a large Provincial Park that has good water and birds.
