Day 16 at Mathis TX. One day fron the Gulf of Mexico.

Glden Fronted Woodpecker seen two days ina row. This is not common.



A few shots from the day sent near Mathis Texas before the short run to the Gulf (Rockport TX.)
Generally we drove sone 30 miles on the rural roads to spot the 33 birds we saw. At the end of the day Ruth spotted a Green Jay and another Golden Fronted Woodpecker , the second day in a row. She saw them in the Dairy Queen parking lot! Go figure.

This was a surprise so far inland. Ruth said, "Go back!",

The Fort started o 1830's was captured finally by the
American Texans. It is now just a Mesquite grove .
