This will be brief in words but not photos, but it does not make the day less important.
First, the day for working after birding is very short. We start at 6:00 AM here , start birding at 8:00 AM and get back to the triler at 7:00 PM .Jim Stevenson gives us our money's worth. More on Jim later inthe week.
I'll merely list the places we saw today and estimate that we traveled about 150 miles . Then post photos.
-The start was across the Galveston Bay Ferry to Bolivar Peninsula ( stayed a short time), then;
-To the Anahuac NWR, a favorite of both Ruth and me.
-Then some long road work in the rice fields of northern Chanbers County. (looking for "grass birds". (As in Curlews and Sandpipers.)
-Lunch at "Al-T's" for seafood...again.
-A visit to the second part of Anahuac (North unit) near Minnie and Anhuac, TX. (Ruth and I stopped at the DQ there some years ago.
-More back roads and fields looking for "grass birds".
-A final run around part of Anahuac. Then home. Took the Ferry over and back.
Anahuac NWR is an excellent Reserve and especially as it has many Rails. We did see King and Clapper Rails there today along with many birds. 98 species in all.The warblers are about a week away.
Enjoy the photos.
