HOUSECLEANING
So today was 'clean the trailer' (inside), and get the salt spray off the vehicles, especially the windows. Eventually, when you are camping along the ocean coasts, getting a wash for the vehicles becomes a must. It was a good day to balance the books, fill up the propane, and eliminate photos not needed. Ruth got some help on the phone, from her sister, Ger, to solve a problem they were having with "i-movie'. Solved!
The Ferry waiting area at Galveston. Look right to see flags at half mast for Mrs Bush. |
In the harbor are a number of ships used as oyster beds. Good bird and fish habitat as well |
An eclectic set of birdhouses. Seen at High Island. |
One of Jim Stevenson's photos, We saw it and he backed up and it came right by the van. It is a female Harrier. (this has been copied three times so clarity is less) |
I took the time, and am still working at it , to eliminate the 'non-needed' photos that we might use for a DVD of the trip. Quite often a photo will be either blurred from movement or the light is not adequate, or... you just don't like the photo.
BASEBALL
Also today I was able to catch the Detroit Tiger game on Internet watching the play by play as the game progressed. I realize they are playing Kansas City, who is off to a very slow start, but at the same time it gives the Tiger coaches a chance to work out the kinks in the lineup. There were many hits today again. The won 12-4. Fiers seems to be pitching well. I love the coaches getting the pitchers to throw strikes. I see that the two relief pitchers threw 9/12 and 16/20 strikes. That has been needed for long time. For those of you who art "Justin Verlander" Fans, he is doing great down here in Houston, with more than 20 scoreless innings his last appearances.
EATING
Tonight Ruth and I will return to "Leo's Cajun Corner" as Ruth would like some of their supreme catfish. It was excellent and the best she has had. I will choose off the menu some seafood of course. I have had the Etoufette, the Gumbo and the Jambalaya. I prefer shrimp but may look at other items. N.B. (Tonight, Ruth ate Catfish with "dirty rice" and macaroni, I had the Shrimp dinner with rice and cold slaw.)
So here are a few photos to wrap things up here in Galveston. We head for Rockport tomorrow.
Those elusive Hudsonian Godwits , one more time. |
A sign in the parking lot at a restaurant. We see many of these and for fire fighters and police as well. |
Finally , here is Jim Stevenson (our bird guide) in his bare feet coming back from getting the photos of the "Hudwits" or Hudsonian Godwits. He is good! |
