Every once in a while the laundry has to be washed and this was the day. We were thinking that getting an early start would avoid the rush on Saturday, but that was not meant to hold true. When we arrived there was no one in the laundromat. We found after a few minutes that one gal had hers in a washer and it had finished so she came back to dry it. Back to the gal in a minute.
Ruth and I rate the laundromats , but not by the best but by the worst. We had rated the one in Hope BC as the worst , and we did not stay to use it, it was so bad , (see Ruby, BC blog). THe difficulty of this one was mainly the operation of the machines. Many of them had duct tape on the coin slots, the dryers would not dry the clothes in an hour, (about half done) , The radio was blaring and it was in a locked cage. there was no one to assist, the machines had obviously not been attended to. It was a very poorly run laundromat. Ruth and I entered and 9:15 and even with some clothes needing additional drying we left at 12:00 noon. (High Noon!)

The "Laundromat" in Shelby MT. It's the only one, unfortunately. |

Daryll Van deKok (sp?) is the owner, and if I could find him, he would receive a huge complaint, and I am not one to usually complain. |
We did meet the one gal who was doing her laundry, and she happened to be a Border Crossing Agent and knew the gal who inspected us yesterday. She told us who it was before we mentioned any names. The lady's personality is well known I guess.
That was the morning. Much more time used in the laundry than we had planned. We stopped at Albertson's grocery on the way home and had been unloading the truck, when the rain started. Just enough to get the shirts on our backs wet. We hustled everything inside and down it came. It rained from then off and on until 5:00 Pm .They were real "gully washers". Monsoon type rains. We could not see downtown at a few times. The official total was 2" of rain in that 5 hours. Flash flood warnings came over the phone (a first for us) and alerted us to flash flooding, When you see the place our trailer was on , we of course, would not be in any flash flood problem.

A general view from our campground |

As indicated we are "up on top" of the town and campground. |
So the rest of the afternoon was indoors, with letter writing ,post cards, preparation of the spaghetti for supper and other days, bookkeeping, a few phone calls. Remember we did not have our phone connection in Canada at all. One call was to my sister who lost her husband this week to Alzheimer's after a ten year struggle. He was 89 , a teacher, and an affable man. He will be missed by many.
Supper was spaghetti and it was delicious. Ruth uses two sauces for a blend which adds some flavors not in a single mix. Tomorrow we will hit the Comfort Inn, (our host here in the Park) for breakfast. Then if the weather holds get out to find a few birds.Today we saw four! This is day 82 or about haf way on the trip if all goes well.
