Day 125, Sunday August 5, 2018, Breakfast out, Birding and Heat (91F) …Renfrew Ontario.

Yes the heat is on and we finally (except for Needles CA)  have the one of the hottest days of the trip. Tough to keep cool and stay in what little breeze there is. At one portion of the day we were in the car and birding so the windows were open as the temp rose above 75 F. Gradually it got above 80 and finally to 91 , which was the peak of the day. The night last night was 69F so there was not much cooling.

(Last night was particularly clear night and good for showing some of the children  constellations . We started with the basics, Big Dipper (Ursa Major), Little Dipper, (Polaris and more) and then the Queens Chair (Cassiopaea).  Maybe tonight we will add a few.)

After that brief ride this morning, we looked for a restaurant that had breakfast advertised and found it in town. It is called “Step ’n Back” Decidedly, a 1960 decor with Elvis, Humphrey   (Bogart) and many other USA stars featured on the walls as well as ’45 records, and some LP’s nailed to the walls. We had eggs an an omelets that was well prepared and it was  plenty to eat. Jennifer the waitress stated that the building has been there 47 years and it has had the ’60’s theme for 13 years.

One wall of the restaurant centered on old photos

This wall was all Elvis.

The entry was very inauspicious.

The second time today, we used the truck as a “cooling agent”, was to download and upload our materials from the internet. We had been given the password from the Toyota Dealership, and it was less than a mile away. We decided to park there and see if we could get connected. I was able to, but strangely enough Ruth could not. Another try was at the office  of the campground  a bit later, where there was a “hotspot” and Ruth completed her work there

Another wall was cars of the 60's and earlier.

Tell me who learned Morse Code by LP and when?
The rest of the day was quite relaxing in trying to stay cool. Once in a while there was a breeze which helped cool the body. Ruth only agreed to use the A/c  in the latter hours of the day.I believe it will help cool her down . I elected to stay outside and catch a breeze now and then.

Rarely do read in the day time but today I got out the current National  Geographic Special Issue on the “Atlas of the Bible” which has just come out. It is a quick study of the connection of the Archeological finds and the literal Bible verses from Abraham to Jesus time and a few year after his
Resurrection. It is a good short read with many maps and photos of archeological sites.

One more photo of a log barn. There are many in this area.

I thought you might like this "chinked:"log barn.

Catch you tomorrow when we hope to be in Quebec nearer to Nova Scotia. St Hyacinth is very French Speaking.
