Day 90, Sunday July 1, 2018 --From Montana to North Dakota --Rainbows and Montana Clouds.

We started late to get on the road intentionally as we wanted to attend the small United Methodist Church oin Glasgow, MT.  We did at 10:30 and enjoyed a very small congregation with a very simple service  on communion Sunday.  Congregation average age is probably 70 +.  Glasgow UMC has a membership of just 20 members. We saw no young participants at all. Perhaps they were all in Hinsdale where the pastor also serves the  Sunday service as well. How does a church this size continue to flourish? Perhaps a benefactor?
When my children were young I would tell them, "these are Montana clouds". They are!

In Montana and Western North Dakota  they call them "Tree shadows"
The ride to Williston ND from Glasgow, MT.,  was uneventful except for some rain as we chased a cloud and storm and finally overran it.  Clouds were the main topic of discussion as well as some birds that we haven't seen, so we get out "the book" and  try to discover if they were usually in this area or not. We saw 17 birds on the road , with a Blue Jay  for the first time in months right in the campground when we arrived.

The infrastructure in Williston has changed dramatically since we were here last., The population went from 13,000 to near 30,000 now and at one time was near 100,000 when the oil boom came in.

We found the campground after only one missed turn of a few blocks. (I missed the left turn of US 2 in town.)   It takes an abrupt nothern turn for 30 miles or so.

Lee, our host came right over after a phone call  (Sunday is "down time") and got us set up,  registered and guided us into place. Lee is from Manistee  Michigan, an avid Detroit Tiger fan. He  married a gal from here and is running the park after working in the oil business at first.  Decided that he could run the park as well as the next guy and seems to be doing just that. (Lee loves the Tigers so much that he even has "Fox Detroit TV " way out here.

That rainbow right after supper.

A "double" you say. Yes there was a double rainbow.
After a light supper we watched a small storm go through that left a great DOUBLE RAINBOW in the eastern sky (of course) .

It is a quiet campground on the edge of town,  about 1/2 full. N Dakota has very few campgrounds and takes up only one page on the Good Sam 1000 page book.

Tomorrow is "odds and ends" in town as usual...oil change on the truck, groceries, and some repair of the trailer that has been put off too long (side panels where the hasp holding them has rusted away.) I will need to drill holes for a wire that will fasten them under the side panel. Until we get back from the trip.

See you then.
