Day 160, Mon. Sept 10, 2018, Few miles, much accomplished! (Seafood again!)

'Much accomplished' depends upon your viewpoint, but it was a RED LETTER Day in many regards.
The story of the day belongs to that long sought after pain medicine that was mailed from  Michigan USA many weeks ago for Ruth.  It's journey is a story in itself. We will hold off on that until the end of this post. (Kidding!)

Actually the whole days schedule depended on the package arriving today as the UPS truck usually gets to the campground after noon but before 4:00 PM. So how were we to get in the chiropractor appointment, an oil change on the truck, and finish the laundry in the laundromat and still be here when the UPS truck arrived?

Here is the "skinny" on that one. The  UPS truck was supposed to  arrive in the afternoon and Ruth's appointment  for the chiropractor was originally scheduled for 1:30. We moved that back to 2:30.  My LOF  on the truck was scheduled for 2:30  and I was able to move that to 3:30.  It happened that the laundromat and the oil change were just across a vacant lot from one another and that helped. So now we have to hope the UPS gets here before we leave for the chiropractor.  The Plan "B" was Ruth would drive to the chiropractor and I would stay until she came back. But  what  to our wondering eyes did appear (he honked actually) was the Brown Truck! At precisely 1:00 PM (ADT).  Matt was very happy to deliver this wrinkled and double wrapped package to us. There was a $13.00 duty fee but we paid that gladly . NOW we could do all three of the "duties" in town and we did all three at the "Happy Laundry", The Dr. Woods Chiro, and at "Mick's Place" auto repair.  I could see across the field when the truck was ready. (Nova Scotia has high taxes as on the auto work there was a 12% tax of $8.85 from which you can deduce the price of the oil change and filter.) We were back home by 4:00 Pm and all chores finished.

Now the real story of the meds being shipped from the USA. Don't ever do this unless you really are desperate.  Ruth's sister was kind enough to find a way to mail this package and found that Fed Ex was a little cheaper and went with them. (At first!)  She was able to fill out the forms after talking to Ruth a few times about dosages, amounts, names , etc of the meds., which they needed to know in order to ship. She paid the fees and the extra charges for the shipping "to a foreign country"  and thought that was it. A few days later Fed Ex called and said she would have to pick up the package as they could not deliver those meds to Canada. (They were pain meds) . Who Knew?   She drove back and picked up the meds and repackaged them in order to try UPS. Much better results and the fees were higher, but they would deliver. Of course in the meantime we moved along on our trip  but were now NOT going to be in the original place to mail them to, but another place. So her sister  changed the mailing address to be there in plenty of time.  Finally we got notice that the package was in process, and would be delivered last Friday.  (Today is Monday) We had set it up with the owner of the campground if we were not there that he would  accept the package and pay the fees due and we would reimburse him. The UPS did attempt to deliver the package on Friday but could not "find" the campground. (Now the campground has a very large fishing boat (25 'long) in the front yard painted green with the name of the campground on it plus three flags on a pole. ) He went instead to a motel across the street and so did not deliver it .  Our campground owner called to find out what happened and they said they could not find anyone home so would try again on Monday. That is how we received the package  more than three weeks after it was originally mailed.  Hopefully Ruth gets some relief from both the chiropractor and the meds this week.

The day was more breezy that usual with winds up to 12-14 mph, shaking the awning some  but not dangerous. Rattles are frustrating in a trailer.

Matt's Brown truck that delivered the package to our trailer..

The package from Michigan double wrapped and wrinkled, but secure.

A  "Happy Camper" to receive some medical help from a "Foreign Country". (1:05PM)
Ruth was not hungry tonight even though we had planned on a "Seafood dinner" so tomorrow we will grill those hamburgs she does so well.  I did,  however, opt for a seafood dinner at a local place called  "Seaside Seafood"  that did a good job on Scallops, clams and fries. I put a piece of home made blueberry pie in the "cooler" for Ruth tomorrow. (see below)

Bonus! #1

The game of "washers" is played here by many of the campers. the object is to get the 2 1/2 inch metal washer in the cup (3 pts), or in the box (2 pts) closest to the cup gets one point.  Boxes 20 feet apart. Like horseshoes in scoring somewhat, and safer.
Bonus #2

The seafood platter with clams (fresh) , scallops (fresh) and the best "seafood chowder" yet. Add cole slaw and chips and it was a great meal. I  saved some chowder for tomorrow. (Chunks of clams, lobster, and fish and a few chives, and onion)
