Easter Sunday , time to put on the good clothes and honor the Sabbath and the Resurrection of Jesus once again. We did.
There is a First United Methodist church in Boerne that we had identified and "scoped" out. Also we scoped out a bakery, a dining spot and a few nature areas. So let's get started. The Bakery was closed!
First was a church service at the First UMC . It is a large church by most standards and very welcoming and active. Probably about 1200 members. I woud call it a vibrant community with much outreach and "something for everyone" to get themselves into to give service to others. I especially liked that they had midweek prayer services for youth.

The original "New" church, as the chapel (in the New church) was the first buiding used. |

The "Dodgin' Duck" Restauran where we ate lunch. |

A very old, quant, house that we spotted near Guadelupe State Park. |

Today's church from the front.
The members were very friendly, there were two screens on the wall for announcements and followed all the music and the pastor's sermon. Ruth and I still used the books as the harmony notes are there! We were somewhat disappointed as the bells played only one number. They did however, do a random ring while walking up the all the aisles before the service. We got a brief tour of the church before we left. It was Easter and we didn't want to keep anyone from their dinner.
We did eat a fine dinner at a rather eclectic restaurant named "The Dodgin' Duck'. Small, quaint, probably a home at one time as there were many walls, but an excellent chef who put together his own version of some foods around the basic fare. He added things like ,'chimmichurri sauce, peanut sauce, 'dusted with cinnamon', asian slaw, 'Brewhaus Bison' (they did have Buffalo burgers), and such things. Their beers were hilarious as was mine..."Duck Down Under Aussie Ale" .It was fun especially ending with a great Brownie fudge sundae (the brownies were steaming hot , yet.)
Some "Oreo" cattle were seen as well.
They really produce chocolate and white milk. When it is
poured out, it separates the white on the top and chocolate
on the bottom.
We did look for birds but saw very few, We think they took Sunday off as well. We did see some Egyptian Geese (introduced species) and Muscovy Ducks in a small lake in town. Also saw our first Carolina Wren on the trip.I think we are at 152 birds at this point. Tomorrow we will head north again and will stay one night in Big Spring TX, so that leaves two nights yet in Texas before we head for Colorado. See you tomorrow.
