"Stay at home day"- Day 17

In each 7-8 days or so there comes a time when the laundry has to be done so this was  the morning feature and shopping was the afternoon feature. If that's all you wanted to know, then stop here.

The rest is merely a description of the day described above with a few tidbits thrown in, Like: Jim takes a swim, just to see if he remembered his "Lifeguard" strokes from years ago.  Did he remember the dreaded sidestroke in rescuing swimmers in trouble, or how to tread water as he had to do in Fort Huachuca (U.S. Army)  training for the water safety course while in the military. I almost "drowned" during those two week. It was only 2 hours a day ,but really wearing on the body in the heat of the Arizona sun. Mostly that was rescue work  for self preservation, with full gear on (As if we just were torpedoed and had to jump into the water.) and then disrobe in the water and use the pants as floatation devices. It worked but WAS hard work. I was in the medical corps.

The laundry  time was good "down " time and each load was just $1.25 , and the dryer was  .75 so a bit of money saved there. t gave both Ruth and me a chance to read (Ruth) and write eltters and catch up with some correspondence.

After lunch in the trailer it was off to H.E.B. the large grocery chain here in the Texas . It was founded in the early 1900's in Kerrville, TX and branched out under the son, Howard E Butts (H.E.B.) and now is # 15 on Forbes list and does $20 billion  worth of business in the USA and $1 billion in Mexico. They have now branched out into other areas like entertainment, auto accessories, etc. The store is massive and equal to the Sam's in size that we have seen. They do bulk selling as well in retail.

I found their seafood section to be fascinating with about 9 sizes and types of shrimp alone. I did note that HALIBUT was selling for ...ready for this?    $24.00 a pound! Yikes. That Halibut in my freezer is worth a fortune.

After the store purchases  (mostly  basic foods) , we returned to the trailer (Are you still reading?) where I completed the removal of water and waste down the sewer. (Every three to four days) Then it was off to the pool for an hour of relaxation by myself. The pool was empty (see) so I had it to myself. Had to take a "selfie" in order to get a picture.

The flowers bushes especially are in bloom at this time, and we saw some Oleander blooming today. There has been Bougainvillea bloomong in south Texas for a while.  Lots of bushes here , but little in the way of bulbs as they need that cooler winter soil to hibernate. ( not the correct word) .

We attempted to get to a "Texas Roadhouse" tonight but the road that the street the map said where it  was,  did not exist evidently. We drove for 75 minutes but never found it. Maybe another time. That was our APRIL FOOL'S JOKE ON US.

So here are a few pictures and we will see you tomorrow when the birds will be back on the menu...er...agenda.-Jim

The "Club House " at the park. Lots of activities.

Jim takes a selfie in the pool.

The pool in midafternoon at 84F.

A bougainvillea bush in the park just starting to bloom

Bougainvilla up close . Very delicate.

This sign is in the Park window each day and all names
of anyone staying there are posted. (This is 5% of the park)
The colored dots tell what the staus is of that site;
electricity being bought, length of stay, , special
needs, etc. Can you find the Strohmer's?
